FIRE PROTECTING VOIDS IN CEILINGS

Fire protection measures for buildings in the UK are set out in Approved Document B - Volume 2 - Buildings other than dwellinghouses (2006 Edition)

Standards for fire resistance tests are set out in BS EN 1364-2:1999 Fire resistance tests for non-loadbearing elements, Part 2 – Ceilings

Light fittings, and other penetrations through a fire rated ceiling, must also
have appropriate fire resistance. Astroflame supply a range of products to maintain the integrity of a fire resisting ceiling where openings have been introduced to fit lights or ventilation ducts.

These independently certified products retard the spread of fire into roof spaces via openings created by the installation of light fittings.

We also supply a Vapour Seal (BS EN 60598 S. 12.4) to maintain continuous loft insulation while providing the required air space above a light fitting.

All of the products are easy to install or retrofit and some are acoustically tested as well as fire tested
